UltraViolet Archive is a nomadic collection of endangered creative works—including films, graphic novels, music, literature, visual and performing arts—that were formerly banned, challenged, or destroyed. This project has traveled throughout New York, including Queens Museum, Cooper Union, Governor’s Island, and NARS Foundation.

As a nomadic research and event space, UltraViolet Archive provides visibility for and access to challenged creative works. Named after the wavelengths of light outside the visible spectrum, the material featured within this archive has faced the threat of public invisibility due to challenges like removal from libraries or museums.

Support:
UltraViolet Archive has received support from Queens Museum, Creative Time, ARoS Art Museum (Denmark), Danish Arts Foundation, National Coalition Against Censorship, Freemuse, Queens Library, and Culture Push. A Faculty Fellowship with Social Practice CUNY will support an augmented reality version of this project in 2025.
