Statement

My work is an exploration of the arbitrary and the absurd, through the media of collaborative performance, installation, video, and photography. Using everyday materials and DIY methods, I take common experiences out of their typical context to see them more fully. This can mean extracting a film still from my parents’ home videos to better understand family dynamics or carrying discarded objects in a suitcase halfway around the world to explore the subjective nature of value.

To allow for spontaneity and freedom in my work, I frequently invite other artists and the audience to participate in my process. In these situations, the exhibition is as much a part of the production process as when I work independently in the studio.
